WOW! Word Of the Week

Word Of The Week

Our Word Of the Week is Theme.

Theme is a message conveyed to the reader in a text.

Try asking these questions to learn about your Bobcats day while reinforcing our Word of the Week!
  • Think about the book you read in class today. If the characters could give you one piece of advice based on their experience, what would it be?
  • Can you think of a movie and a book that share the same Theme (like 'bravery' or 'kindness') even though the stories are completely different?
  • If today was a chapter in a book about your life, what would the Theme be? Was it a day about 'perseverance,' 'friendship,' or maybe 'trying new things'?

The deadline for submitting this form will be Thursday, April 30, 2026. All requests made after this date must be made in-person at your school.

You must have a registered ParentSquare account to complete this form. For information on registering your account, please visit https://www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/parentsquare. For questions, please contact your school's transportation point-of-contact.

The Positivity Project Family Newsletter

The Positivity Project Family Newsletter

Dear Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Humor. Humor means enjoying laughter and bringing smiles to others.

Humor helps us see the lighter side of things, making tough times easier and more fun. It doesn't mean you have to tell jokes, but people with humor often notice the funny moments in life and share them with others. Humor can lift people's spirits and help them through challenges. It’s important to help students understand how to use humor in a kind way, to lift others up, and never at someone else's expense.

To practice and encourage the character strength of humor at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

Thank you for your support!
